Detangle before water

Work from the ends upward in sections while supporting the hair. Removing knots before washing reduces matting.

Wash in the direction of the hair

Avoid vigorous rubbing or piling the hair on itself. Let water and cleanser move down the strands.

Condition strategically

Focus conditioner on mid-lengths and ends unless the product or wig construction calls for something different. Heavy product at the knots or cap can create buildup.

Dry with low friction

Blot rather than twist. Air drying on a suitable wig stand is the gentlest default; if using heat, follow the hair seller’s guidance and use appropriate protection.
